Tying A Bavarian Verein Alpengrün Tie

Letter On Sketch Commentary
A Lay your tie down so that it is flat and the back is facing upward.  Imagine the size you want your tie to be and where the fold lines will be. Generally, a tie that is between 5 and 6 inches at it's widest and between 2.5 and 3 inches at the top works well.
B Fold one side of the tie over as illustrated, following your imaginary fold lines from A.
C & D Imagine a fold line at the half-way point of the other side's material. The folded material should over-lap the fold line determined in A.  This is to keep the finished tie from falling apart.  Fold the tie at this fold line.
E To complete the basic shape of the tie, fold the remaining side at the fold line determined in A.
F & G Determine a proper length (plus a half of an inch) for the tie and fold it.  Tie should not extend farther than the top of the Lederhosen, and whatever looks good should be your guide.

H & I Fold the tie down the middle at the narrowest part of the tie (the top).
This middle fold (a) is the start for the accordian fold.  The accordian fold, when finished (b), adds creases above and below the tie holder.
K Slip the tie holder over the accordian fold.  Seperate the material in the accordian fold to form the pass-through (a).  This is where your tie strap or elastic band will go.  Spreading the accordian fold apart will add fullness in the tie's width.  Adjusting the extra material in the back (b) of the tie will tighten or loosen the knot (accordian fold) of the tie.  Richtig fein!!
